Callbreak is an engaging trick-taking classic designed for four competitors using a standard 52-card deck across a typical match of five rounds. Prior to dealing the opening hand, seating arrangements and the inaugural dealer are established by having each participant draw a random card; both seat direction and initial dealer status depend on card rank. After this stage, the dealer role rotates in a counterclockwise sequence. In every round, the active dealer dispenses 13 face-down cards to themselves before dealing one card face-up to each participant in counterclockwise order, beginning with the opponent on their immediate right.

Commencing with the participant seated to the dealer's right, every competitor calls a bid predicting the exact number of tricks they expect to secure during the active hand. Spades consistently serve as the permanent trump suit throughout Callbreak. You are required to follow suit whenever possible; if unable to follow suit, you should deploy a trump card to vie for the trick, or discard any card if neither option is viable. To maximize your odds of securing the trick, aiming for the highest available card in hand is essential. The opening trick is led with any suit by the player immediately right of the dealer, with gameplay rotating counterclockwise. The strongest spade played captures the trick, or alternatively, the highest-ranking card of the led suit claims it. The trick victor leads the subsequent turn. Securing tricks matching your precise bid results in a win, with each extra trick contributing an additional 0.1 points. Conversely, failing to achieve your declared bid penalizes your cumulative score. After four rounds, cumulative totals are tallied to set targets for round five, concluding with the champion and runner-up announced following the decisive round.
